„The sound of the singing bowl touches our innermost being; it sets the soul into vibration. The sound releases tensions, activates the body’s self-healing powers, and sets creative energies free.“ (Peter Hess)

The term “massage” was chosen because many patients describe their experience during a sound session as a kind of massage. In sound massage, the massage occurs through the medium of the singing bowl and its sound vibrations. In a specific sequence, special singing bowls are gently placed on and around the clothed body and softly tapped. Patients lie comfortably on their back or stomach. The pleasant, overtone-rich vibrations create a space for well-being and deep relaxation.

Both hearing and feeling are stimulated simultaneously. The harmonious sounds calm the mind, while the gentle vibrations emanating from the resonating bowl spread throughout the body—via the skin, tissues, organs, bones, body cavities, and fluids. These vibrations gently release muscular tension and stimulate circulation and lymphatic flow. As relaxation sets in, breathing, heartbeat, pulse, skin resistance, blood pressure, metabolism, and the digestive system are positively influenced—allowing for regeneration on all levels.

The sound massage uses special singing bowls known as Peter Hess® Therapy Singing Bowls. These have been developed and optimized over decades of research and practice specifically for this method.

Peter Hess, a graduate engineer for Physical Technology and former professional school teacher in Physics and Politics, is considered a pioneer in working with singing bowls. As early as three decades ago, he recognized the great potential in these exotic instruments of Asian origin.

Regular Peter Hess® Sound Massages help improve stress management and foster a more positive relationship with one’s own body. This was confirmed in a 2007 study by the European Association for Sound Massage Therapy, involving over 200 participants. Positive effects were also observed in areas such as sleep behavior, creativity, productivity, and „joie de vivre“.

“There is nothing to practice, nothing to do or understand—just enjoy, perceive, and be—everything else happens on its own,” says Peter Hess, pioneer of sound bowl therapy.

Every sound massage is a unique experience. Don’t hesitate to discover this extraordinary and holistic method of relaxation in my practice.
